Estonian Cultural Endowment’s Annual Award to Anu Korb

The recipients of the Estonian Cultural Endowment’s (Kultuurkapital) annual awards were announced on the 28th of February 2011. Anu Korb received the award in the field of folk culture for her long-standing work with collecting and researching the folklore of Siberian Estonians and for the compilation of the serial publication Eesti asundused I-V (Estonian Settlements I-V ).

Latvian Occupation Museum Receives LVL 130,000 Donation

The Latvian Occupation Museum has received a 250,000 Australian dollar (LVL 130,000) donation from a Juris Graudins in Australia, who left the money to the museum in his last will and testament, LETA was informed by the Occupation Museum’s public relations head Janis Erno.

Latvia’s Foreign Ministry and World Federation of Free Latvians Sign Pact on Cooperation with Diaspora

Lativans Online reports: “Latvia’s Foreign Ministry plans to improve its cooperation with diaspora communities under an agreement signed Jan. 6 in Rīga. /—/ The agreement calls on the two sides to foster Latvian language and culture, as well as to strengthen the diaspora’s participation in the homeland’s political life and economy.”
