October 27: The World Day for Audiovisual Heritage

Five years ago, UNESCO established a World Day for Audiovisual Heritage, which is celebrated on October 27th, in order to raise awareness of the importance of preserving audiovisual history in its various forms – audio, photography and film.

Call for Papers! Perspectives on Estonia: Present, Past and Future II. International Student Symposium, University of Glasgow, 2-3 December 2011

The Central and East European Studies (CEES) at the University of Glasgow are pleased to announce a second international student symposium on Estonian society, history and culture. The first international student symposium was held in 2008 to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Estonian Republic and was very successful.

The Baltic Heritage Network Seminar for Young Diaspora Researchers in Lithuania, Kaunas on October 3-4, 2011

From October 3-4, 2011, students and researchers of Baltic studies gathered in Kaunas Lithuania to share their research methods and some of the problems they encounter. The seminar took plaRe at the Lithuanian Emigration Institute, and was graciously hosted by Linas Saldukas. Participants came from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
