On Oct. 8 and Oct. 10 Prof. Jüri Talvet of the University of Tartu gave two talks, in Estonian and English respectively, at Tartu College.

On Tuesday October 29th 2013, 7 pm at Tartu College in Toronto a lecture by Tarvo Kärberg: “Bitist digiarhiivini: Eesti Rahvusarhiivi digiarengud” (From Bit to Digital Archiving: the Digital Developments in Estonian National Archives).

Although a small country, Estonia has rich culture and history, both of which will be celebrated through film at Stanford on Nov. 19. The free, evening event aims to bring together Stanford faculty, staff, and students, local Estonians as well as other people interested in Estonian heritage.

The 2014 Conference on Baltic and Scandinavian Studies is hosted by Yale’s Baltic Studies Program and the European Studies Council at the Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies at Yale.

The Life Stories group for English speaking Estonians held their first session at Tartu College, in Toronto on October 10th. Eleven people gathered together to introduce themselves, share stories and begin the process of writing them down.

Baltic Heritage Network seminar for young diaspora researchers in Vilnius on November 7-9, 2013.

On Tuesday October 8th 2013, 7 pm at Tartu College in Toronto a lecture by Jüri Talvet on the topic of “Luuletaja ning mõtleja Juhan Liiv (1864-1913)” (Juhan Liiv, Estonian Poet and Thinker (1864-1913)).

A series of events took place at the end of September at Tartu College to celebrate Tartu College’s 43rd birthday and the opening of the new VEMU/ESC season. Many interesting cultural figures from Estonia were invited to present. The events were devoted to the Year of Cultural Heritage, which was celebrated in 2013 in Estonia.
