A Book About the Levašovo Memorial Cemetery

On November 23rd at 4pm, the “Levašovo Memorial Cemetery” („Levašovo memoriaalkalmistu”) brochure, newly translated into Estonian, was launched at the Estonian Heritage Society at 46 Pikk St. The brochure, compiled by Anatoli Razumov, has been published and reprinted in Russian four times, the last print was in 2012.

Kerly Ilves’ Photo Exhibition Opened at the Tartu Train Station

Beginning November 14th, the photo exhibition “Canadian-Estonians – in light and shadow” about Estonians living abroad in Toronto, is open to visitors in the Tartu train station waiting area. The exhibition author is Kerly Ilves, who met with these Canadian Estonians abroad in 2012 conducting interviews and photographing their portraits.

Another Lecture in the Series “Life as a Cosmopolitan Estonian”

On November 9th, 2016 young Canadian-Estonians Josh (Juku) Gold and Osvald Nitski gave the next lecture in the series “Life as a Cosmopolitan Estonian.” They spoke on the topic of “Culture Through Sport: Swimming for Estonia.” They discussed their swimming careers as students at the University of Toronto on the Varsity Swim Team. The 12th Conference on Baltic Studies in Europe (CBSE) takes place at the University of Latvia (Riga, Latvia) June 19-21, 2017 and is titled “The Baltic states at 99: Past, Present and Future”. The conference aims to reflect on the past, present and future of the Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania 99 years after their declarations of independence.
