Baltic Heritage Network newsletter reaches its 50th issue!

March 24, 2025

We are proud to present you the 50th issue of the Baltic Heritage Network newsletter. The newsletter was first issued in 2012. Since then, we have covered many events and projects which, in one way or another, serve the noble goal of preserving the Baltic diaspora heritage.

March of this year also marks 20 years since the first meeting in Tartu, where the necessity for the future network was formulated, as well as its initiative group — the diaspora Estonian archives work group. Our first international conference took place in 2006 and the establishment of the official not-for-profit entity took place at the beginning of 2008. We are thankful to all of the authors, partners, and supporters who we have walked down this path with! Thank you! Paldies! Ačiū!

We are meeting with our Estonian friends in Viinistu at the BaltHerNet summer school from June 16-19. We will also be reviving the youth seminar tradition in the fall — stay tuned!

Unfortunately, what’s currently happening in the world doesn’t favour a festive mood. The shocking, about-face foreign and domestic politics of President Donald Trump’s new administration has caused the already fragile state of international security to become even more volatile. Stand for your values and document not only history but also the events of today, in order to make it as difficult as possible for future falsifiers of history. Wishing everyone a sound mind and hope in your hearts!
