On October 14th 2009 the first Baltic Heritage Network seminar for young diaspora researchers took place in the Exhibition House of the Estonian National Museum in Tartu.

Between the 30th of October and the 1st of November 2009, Ms. Tiiu Kravtsev and Ms. Marge Tiidus from the Estonian National Archives and Ms. Anu Korb from the Estonian Literary Museum visited the Karelian Estonian Society (chairman Ms. Elena Ryabikova) in Petroskoi/Petrozavodsk on assignment from the NPA Baltic Heritage Network.

The State Archives of Latvia has prepared a new virtual exhibition. This virtual exhibition is the web version of the traveling exhibition „The Aftermath of Prague Spring and Charter 77 in Latvia/the Baltics“ which opened for first time in Prague during the international conference „Prague Spring 1968. Society, the Mass Media, and the Transfer of Political and Cultural Processes“ on June 16-17, 2008.

The collection consists of a representative choice of Siberian Latvians’ songs, instrumentals, dances and games, recorded in different Latvian communities in Siberia between 1975 and 2009.

In the first week of October, the board of the Baltic Heritage Network , composed of Gatis Karlsons (The General Management of the Latvian National Archives), Linas Saldukas (The Lithuanian Emigration Institute), Piret Noorhani (The Estonian National Museum), Birgit Kibal (The Estonian National Archives) and Karin Kiisk, met in Riga.

On the occasion of the visit to Latvia of Ian Wilson, president of the International Council on Archives (ICA), the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a seminar on ”Archives and Memory Institutions” in Riga on Aug. 31, 2009.

On July 7th-10th, 2009, an international conference on the Baltic archives abroad was held at the Estonian Literary Museum in Tartu.
