Honorary general consul of the Republic of Lithuania, Vytautas Čekanauskas’s book collection has safely arrived at Stanford University, and the long and detailed cataloging process can now begin. The books will be cataloged using the Library of Congress system, contributing to Stanford’s impressive Baltic collection, which already holds over 60,000 volumes and continues to grow. The collection is accessible through the university’s database at http://searchworks.stanford.edu.
The Baltic Studies Program at Stanford University Libraries, established in 2013 through an endowment from Olga Ritso Kistler and her husband, Walter, focuses on collecting Baltic books, periodicals, and archives. It supports research, teaching, and raises awareness of Baltic history and culture through events, seminars, fellowships, and internships, ensuring that this rich heritage is preserved and shared.
